A terracotta baguette series is a set of linear element options—not a complete louver, sunscreen, ventilation screen or guard system. The selected element still needs an exact cross-section, length, orientation, finish and interface, while the complete assembly needs supports, spacing, engineering, project details and acceptance evidence.
Use this guide to turn an architectural idea into a comparable enquiry. It separates what must be declared for each baguette from what must be designed and verified for the installed screen.

Define the baguette as a buildable element
Words such as square, rectangular, oval, triangular or shuttle-shaped can describe appearance, but they are not sufficient for pricing, engineering or fabrication. Begin with the current item/model and its manufacturer-issued cross-section drawing. Do not copy dimensions from another project, an archived article or a different product page.
Cross-section
State the exact item, overall width and depth, wall/web geometry, voids, radii, surface faces and intended orientation. Use a controlled drawing rather than a shape nickname.
Length and ends
State overall and clear length, cut and end conditions, allowable length tolerance, straightness/warpage criteria, support positions and any end-access requirement.
Finish and range
State colour reference, surface, glaze or other declared finish, viewing distance and lighting, approved range samples, batch control and replacement matching expectations.
Interface zone
Identify where inserts, rods, pins, clips, brackets or other restraints engage the element and what minimum edge/end distances and clearances the current supplier details require.
Declared properties
Request unit mass and item-specific test data required by the project. A visually similar profile is not evidence that another model’s results apply.
Special pieces
Schedule corners, returns, transitions, closure/end pieces, penetrations and replacement access. Confirm manufacturability and tolerances before releasing elevations.
The two historic photographs on this page show multiple display profiles but publish no item numbers or dimensions. They should remain visual references only. Current drawings, samples and production confirmation must control a live project.

Turn the element schedule into a louver assembly
The designer’s visual rhythm comes from axis direction, module, angle, spacing, depth and colour. The buildable rhythm also depends on clear span, number and position of supports, end engagement, bracket and rail geometry, fasteners, tolerances, movement, drainage and access for installation and replacement.

State who owns each interface. Supplying fired-clay elements does not automatically include screen design, structural calculations, rails, brackets, fasteners, substrate, waterproofing, installation, inspection or commissioning.
Convert functional claims into measurable briefs
Solar control and energy
Define location, facade orientation, glazing, element angle/depth/spacing, seasonal sun targets and the required analysis method. A baguette’s presence does not by itself prove shading effectiveness or whole-building energy savings.
Ventilation and weather
Define airflow path, free/open area method, pressure conditions, rain management, insects/birds, mechanical-system interfaces and required modelling or testing. Visible gaps do not establish ventilation performance.
Daylight, privacy and views
Test the proposed geometry from relevant interior and exterior viewpoints and sun angles. Renderings should use the scheduled profile and spacing, then be checked with a representative mock-up.
Fire and cavity design
Identify the applicable code, required product and assembly classifications, support materials, cavity conditions and fire-stopping strategy. Do not label an element or complete screen non-combustible without the required evidence.
Acoustic and thermal results
These are assembly outcomes. Define the target, boundaries and test or calculation method; do not assign sound or heat-insulation performance to an isolated open baguette from appearance alone.
Guarding and public safety
If the screen is near an accessible edge or could be treated as a barrier, separately address fall protection, openings, climbability, impact, concentrated loads and local-code requirements. A decorative louver is not automatically a guard.
Replace brochure claims with traceable evidence
The archived 2021 article stated a firing temperature above 1200°C and offered “different shapes and specifications,” but it cited no current product record, item schedule or manufacturing document. It also made broad claims about energy, environmental impact, colour permanence, non-combustibility, sound and heat insulation, acid/alkali resistance, self-cleaning and low maintenance without naming reports or project conditions. Those statements are not reused here.
For a current enquiry, ask for the manufacturing and quality documents that matter to the selected item. Environmental language should map to a current, defined declaration or assessment boundary. Colour and durability expectations should map to the actual finish, exposure, approved samples, tests and warranty terms. Cleaning and maintenance expectations should map to the installed geometry, access, local soiling and an agreed maintenance plan.
