White ceramic louvers trace five jasmine-petal venues
Eleven archive images record the centre’s curved ceramic screens, panel-clad walls, terraces and waterfront setting. This case study separates verified architectural facts from conflicting louver counts, supplier attributions and performance claims that require project records.

Project identity and architectural team
The official PES-Architects project page identifies five venues—an opera house, concert hall, multi-functional theatre, art exhibition hall and cinema centre—linked by a cultural concourse and roof terrace. The jasmine blossom, Fuzhou’s city flower, informed the five-part massing and white ceramic language. PES lists Pekka Salminen as chief designer, Martin Lukasczyk as project architect, Lai Linli as project manager and CCEDGC Co. Ltd. as local architect.
Xinhua’s October 2018 report records the May 2015 construction start, August 2018 completion and October first performance. Contemporary Fuzhou reporting identifies Fuzhou New Area Group as owner and China Construction Strait Construction Development Co., Ltd. as builder. These building-team facts do not establish any party’s responsibility for louver design, production or installation beyond its documented role.
Double-curved screen
White louvers follow the changing venue envelopes as an outer layer in front of glazed areas. The geometry is visible; the images do not provide an approved setting-out schedule.
Panels and louvers
Opaque walls use pale ceramic plates while the screened elevations use repeated projecting units. Both contribute to one colour field but are separate product and interface conditions.
Waterfront sequence
Canals, terraces and the shared concourse separate and reconnect the five volumes. Wide views establish the composition; they are not evidence of ceramic area or unit count.
Eleven-image archive record
All original body images are retained in WXR order at full stored proportions. The 2018 post credits Zimo Studio for photography. The first image remains the featured attachment; post-scoped CSS suppresses the theme’s duplicate thumbnail so the complete source appears once without cropping.
What the louver record supports
The WXR describes project-custom louvers with a white ceramic body and white matte glaze on four faces. Architect and trade reporting describes a lens-shaped section and an approximate 1,800 mm length; one facade-industry article additionally reports roughly nine inches of depth, 11-inch vertical spacing and a 45-degree upward setting. These values document a project configuration, not a current catalogue model or universal fixing prescription.
The quantity cannot be reconciled from reviewed public sources: Facades+ reports approximately 42,250 baguettes, while an architect-feature publication reports 50,000 units. Both agree on an approximately 1.8 m length. LOPO supplier pages and the WXR attribute the white glazed panels and louvers to LOPO, but no purchase order, final schedule or signed scope was reviewed.
Recover the approved schedule
For maintenance or reference, obtain as-built elevations, unit-location codes, cross-section drawings, glaze samples, production batches, test records and spare-stock logs. Confirm the final installed count rather than choosing a published estimate.
Coordinate the curved screen
Set unit angle, spacing, rotation, ends, transitions, corners and view corridors from the current geometry and environmental analysis. Treat diagonal steel supports and custom clips shown in trade reporting as project-specific concepts.
Verify the complete assembly
Responsible designers and engineers must verify ceramic units, supports, anchors, loads, movement, tolerances, glazing interfaces, drainage, fire interfaces, inspection and replacement access for the actual building and jurisdiction.
Case-study limits
- Do not convert 153,000 m² gross building area into ceramic facade area, louver area or quantity.
- Do not present either approximate published count as a reconciled final installation schedule.
- Do not treat a project or steel-structure award as certification or performance evidence for the ceramic louvers.
- Do not infer a current model, glaze availability, fixing detail, wind/fire/water performance or maintenance outcome from images or historic publicity.
- Do not expand LOPO’s dated supplier/manufacturer attribution into facade design, installation or whole-project contract responsibility.
