Zhoushan City National Fitness Center: panels and baguettes across a civic sports facade
The Zhoushan project combines grey terracotta panels, grooved surfaces, linear elements and baguettes across a large public-building envelope. This case preserves the original interior and facade images while separating the 2016–2017 project records from current product specification.

A reconstructed public sports complex in central Dinghai
The 2017 LOPO article places the center on Donghai East Road in Dinghai District and describes the work as reconstruction of an existing sports site. It says the earlier complex had one indoor gymnasium and an outdoor stadium, locally called the “light stadium,” and that the replacement emerged after an eight-year process. No start date, phasing record or completion certificate accompanied that duration.
The same article attributes more than RMB 20 million in investment to center director Yu Yuehui and gives a building area of 6,000 m². It lists basketball, volleyball, badminton, squash, tennis, swimming and wrestling among the activities associated with levels three to five, along with competitions and performances. These are preserved as a 2017 programme and cost record, not a current venue directory or present-day valuation.
Public programme
The archive describes a multi-activity fitness and events venue. Current opening, operations and floor uses were not checked by this facade case study.
Historic site
The source says the project rebuilt an existing Dinghai sports site. It does not provide a demolition, phasing or heritage record.
Opening account
The article records a 22 March ceremony attended by Du Zhili and Wang Jun Tao, but omits the year and source notice.
Facade composition in the retained exterior image
The exterior photograph shows a predominantly grey elevation built from broad horizontal panel bands, lighter upper wall fields and repeated vertical terracotta elements within long openings. LOPO’s 2016 description also records natural-flat and grooved panels, linear panels, limited red panels, customized special shapes, and square baguettes or louvers installed in different orientations across the broader project.
The image supports the visible relationships between panel fields, openings, horizontal lines and vertical baguettes. It does not reveal the complete subframe, anchors, backing wall, cavity, insulation, membranes, flashings, fire stopping, drainage, movement joints or installation responsibility.
Archived item and size strings
The 2017 article supplies nine item strings followed by nine size strings. It does not state units, explicitly match each size to an item, distinguish panel dimensions from baguette sections, or explain whether each token is complete. The safest preservation is therefore an unpaired archive list.

Using this sports-building precedent today

The Zhoushan archive is useful for studying a mixed panel-and-baguette composition at civic scale. It is not a current system approval or a reusable bill of materials.
