What the 2023 product record actually supports
The old article uses three related names: “strip tile” in the body, a link to Long Format Bricks and “Red Long Format Thin Brick” in the featured-media title. Those labels support a historical long, thin fired-clay concept, but they do not resolve whether the unit was classified, sold or installed as a tile, adhered veneer, brick slip, facing brick or mechanically retained component.

Turn the archived format and red face into an approval sample
The useful design intent is unusually specific: a long, narrow red unit with a comparatively smooth face, used to create fine linear fields and sometimes rotated vertically. Convert that intent into controlled fields instead of copying one screen image.
Axes and module
Confirm which axis is 500 mm, which is 50 mm and where 15 mm is measured. Add joint width/depth, course module, bond, orientation, setting-out datum and accumulated tolerance.
Face, sides and back
Approve exposed face, long/short edges, arrises, cut/core appearance and rear geometry. A frontal image cannot show bond keys, chambers, treatments or edge consistency.
Representative red range
Use enough labelled current units to show permitted hue, light/dark limits, mottling, surface marks, sheen and firing variation. One loose sample is not a production range.
Joints and adjacent finishes
Review grout/mortar or open-joint colour, depth and cleanup beside glass, metal, plaster, stone, timber, sealants and membranes. The joint changes the apparent red and proportion.
Corners and transitions
Draw returns, corners, reveals, bases, heads, parapets, movement joints, curved zones and changes in orientation. Confirm specials versus cuts and how exposed edges are finished.
Light and viewing distance
Check daylight and permanent artificial light at close, room and elevation distances. Lighting can emphasise red variation and relief; it does not prove product or system performance.
Resolve the product and wall-system route before testing
The historic names cross product families, so identify the construction first. Do not choose an adhesive, rail, tie, anchor, substrate or test path from the word “strip” or from the 15 mm thickness alone.
Adhered thin veneer
If confirmed as a veneer, coordinate the exact back, substrate, setting materials, coverage, joints, movement, moisture/drainage, curing, temperature/exposure and falling-object consequences.
Brick or masonry unit
If the current item is a brick unit, define thickness/body, bedding, support, restraint/ties, cavity, movement, water management, tolerances, temporary stability and structural responsibility.
Mechanical facade component
If proposed for mechanical retention, define holes/kerfs/edges, clips/rails/brackets/anchors, support spacing, movement, drainage, fire interfaces, replaceability and complete-assembly evidence.
- dimensions/surface, absorption, strength and relevant freeze/thaw or weathering results need the exact current product and test method;
- adhesion, pull-off, wind, impact, seismic, fire, water, thermal or falling-object conclusions depend on the complete proposed assembly and project criteria;
- red colour does not identify oxidation/reduction atmosphere, firing temperature, through-body colour, colourfastness or batch repeatability;
- smooth appearance does not establish stain resistance, cleanability, slip, wear, chemical resistance, low maintenance or a recommended cleaner;
- terracotta/clay does not by itself prove recycled content, low carbon, non-toxicity, recyclability, an EPD/LCA result or environmental preference; and
- the archive images do not establish interior/exterior approval, project ownership, installed quantity or supplier/installer responsibility.
Reconfirm the 50 mm archive before a current enquiry
The current Long Format Bricks page proves that LOPO still presents linear fired-clay product families and a technical-review route for dimensions outside its listed references. Its thin-veneer example is 40 × 500 × 15 mm, while this archive says 50 × 500 × 15 mm. The 2025 Facade Brick & Baguette catalogue is a current starting point, but no public exact item/code cross-reference was found for the 50 mm archive. Similarity is not equivalence.
Freeze the archive reference
Record the 15 March 2023 date, exact old wording, 50 × 500 mm plus 15 mm thickness, extrusion/firing note and seven original images. Mark every missing field unknown.
Ask for an exact successor
Request a written mapping to a current item or a new feasibility review. Require product code, plant, revision, body/back/edges, intended use, current status and labelled sample.
