An early-stage brief for a terracotta rainscreen panel enquiry
This resource helps a project team organize panel references, samples, elevations, wall interfaces, evidence, quantities and programme information before requesting a current review. It preserves the dated PW627 record and selection board from the original 2016 page, but it does not present those archived values as current product or commercial commitments.
Use this page to prepare the brief
The main Terracotta Rainscreen page is the current product-family destination. This article has a narrower job: turning an early design idea into a reviewable enquiry. Begin with the building location and use, elevation drawings, intended panel orientation, preliminary module, surface direction, estimated quantity, applicable requirements, delivery destination and target dates.
A terracotta panel is one part of a wall assembly. The panel reference alone does not define the substrate, support system, cavity, insulation, membranes, flashings, fire barriers, interfaces or installation sequence. Those elements must be coordinated for the project by the responsible design, engineering and construction teams using current product and system information.

Archived PW627 record from November 2016
The original page published the following ten fields on 22 November 2016. The units are normalized for readability while the values remain traceable to the source. Confirm each field with current technical data, samples, feasibility review and a quotation before specification, approval or procurement.
Retain the three surface references, then approve current samples
The original board identifies PW627, PW626 and PW625. The full image remains visible so all three references can be read. They are historical identifiers rather than confirmed current SKUs, and a screen image cannot establish an exact present-day colour or texture.

For a current project, review representative samples under relevant light and viewing distance. Record the intended range, print or texture scale, pattern repetition, panel orientation, joint relationship, cut pieces, corners and transition conditions. A larger mock-up may be needed to judge how repeated surfaces and mixed units read across an elevation.
Build a reviewable panel and elevation brief
Panel definition
List the proposed reference, profile, length, height, thickness, orientation, surface direction and edge conditions. Mark target values separately from dimensions still subject to feasibility review.
Elevation schedule
Provide coordinated elevations and sections with module counts, openings, corners, returns, special pieces and interfaces. Separate estimated net area, allowances, spares and replacement stock.
Appearance control
Identify the visual reference, acceptable variation, sample sequence, mock-up, blending approach and approval record. Note whether pattern continuity or controlled randomization is intended.
Wall coordination
State the structural substrate, preliminary support concept, cavity, insulation, membranes, flashings, barriers, movement joints and adjoining materials without treating a preliminary sketch as a universal detail.
Evidence schedule
List applicable standards and the current product or assembly evidence required by the project. Define who reviews reports, calculations, samples, drawings, mock-ups and site quality records.
Commercial inputs
Give the estimated quantity, special-piece count, packaging needs, destination, unloading constraints and programme. Current MOQ, price and lead time depend on the confirmed scope and quotation.
Coordinate performance and fixing responsibilities
The project facade and structural teams should establish design actions, substrate adequacy, bracket and rail arrangement, panel support, fasteners, edge distances, movement, tolerances and replacement access. Product-specific information from the current manufacturer review can inform that work, but it does not replace calculations, coordinated drawings, mock-ups, testing or site verification.
Fire safety, cavity barriers, water management, drainage and ventilation, air and vapour control, thermal continuity, acoustic targets, corrosion exposure and local regulations depend on the complete wall assembly and project conditions. Confirm the required evidence and acceptance route with the relevant authorities and qualified project professionals.
- project location, building use, exposure and governing requirements;
- elevations, sections, interfaces and preliminary panel schedule;
- target module, orientation, surface reference and visual range;
- substrate and preliminary support-system information;
- structural, fire, water, thermal and acoustic criteria;
- required current reports, samples, mock-up and approval stages;
- estimated quantities, spares, programme and delivery destination; and
- responsibility matrix for design, approval, manufacture and installation.
Move from an archived reference to a current enquiry
Use the archived PW references only as a starting point. Review the current Terracotta Rainscreen information, see visual precedents in the Gallery, and consult the Terracotta Rainscreen Installation Coordination Guide when planning interfaces and site responsibilities.
Send a panel specification brief for review
Share the drawings, panel schedule, visual reference, required evidence, preliminary quantity, programme and delivery destination for a current feasibility review. Final wall design, fixing, testing, approvals and compliance remain project-specific responsibilities.
